New races on the cards

Singapore will bid to host a Formula One Race in the 2008 season, a government release announced. South Africa, Greece, Russia and Spain are also considering hosting races in 2008. As far as hosting a race is concerned, India seems to have been left behind with no official announcements coming. However with every season increasing in length , it might disinterest audiences around the world to see so many races each year in Formula One.

There has been lots of interest in hosting formula one races by 'non-traditional' Formula One countries. They see Formula One as a means to attract the world's attention and as a source of foreign exchange from tourists which would throng the F1 event city during the race weekend.

Did you know

The top speed of a Formula One car is around 375 kph and Monza is the only circuit where such a mark is likely to be reached.

hmm.. India might be on the cards again, if Jayalalitha (a.k.a Amma) wins the election.

Can't imagine any other city than Chennai that can host F1.

YSR just sold the land that was ear-marked by Naidu for F1 to IT companies. So there ends Hyderabad's flirting with F1. No more land large enough for F1 near the Shamshabad area, where the airport would come.
